Week of 7/21 - "Fall Allergies"
Q. Doug, for people concerned about fall allergies...what prevention ideas can you suggest for this year?
Doug: August is the start of the fall allergy season as many weeds and even some trees are pollinating,
with ragweed being the worst culprit as it's pollen easily becomes airborne. These pollens get in our
airways and eyes and cause the annoying sneezing and watery, itchy eyes.
Q. Doug, what is your best advice for relief from these annoying symptoms?
Doug: My advice is to start your allergy regimen two weeks prior to the anticipated fall allergy season!
Prescription nasal steroids and over-the-counter antihistamines can provide great relief.
There are great eye drops that provide quick relief for those itchy eyes. You can always ask
your friendly, knowledgeable Cub Pharmacist for advice on all allergy medications. You may also
